International Overdose Awareness Day – Timmins 2026:

DIY Community Health, Northern College, and Misiway Milopemahtesewin Community Health Centre are coming together to host a public event recognizing International Overdose Awareness Day on Monday, August 31 at 6:00 PM at Imagine Cinemas Timmins.

The evening will begin with a screening of short documentaries exploring how the toxic drug crisis has impacted people, families, and communities in Timmins.

Following the screening, attendees are invited to take part in a Community Conversation featuring four community champions with experience supporting people and communities through the toxic drug crisis.

Together, the panel and audience will explore this year’s International Overdose Awareness Day themes of Community Action and Promoting Quality Health Care for People Who Use Drugs, while reflecting on what these themes mean for Timmins and how we can build a healthier, more compassionate community response.

This event is an opportunity to remember those we have lost, recognize the people and communities affected by the crisis, learn from local experiences, and come together around actions that can make a difference
