As International Overdose Awareness Day approaches on Aug. 31, the most recent BC Coroners Service report on toxic drug deaths recorded 17 more deaths in the Okanagan in June.

Communities across the region will be marking International Overdose Awareness Day with events at parks and other locations.

In Kelowna, there will be an event at Kerry Park from 4:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 31, and in Penticton, there will be an event at Gyro Park from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Aug. 29.
