Anyone is welcome to participate in the Aug. 30 walk, whether they have lost someone themselves, know somebody struggling with addiction, or simply want to show their support.

For those who might be hesitant to attend for the first time, Logue has a simple message.

“Come on out, join us,” she said. “Even talking to somebody eases the pain a little bit better. Having your support behind you, I think, is huge. The more that come out and the more the awareness is brought forward, maybe we’re going to get somewhere. It’ll take time, but eventually we’ll get there.”

The event begins at 1 p.m. in the Orillia Public Library parking lot.
