The City of Northampton will hold a community event and candlelight vigil to honor people who have died from overdoses as part of International Overdose Awareness Day.
As overdose deaths decline, experts say vigilance still needed
The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, outside Forbes Library. The event will provide an opportunity for community members to remember those lost to overdose, connect with others and access resources and support.
This year’s International Overdose Awareness Day theme is “25 Years On. Still Needed.” Organizers said the theme recognizes the continued impact of overdose locally and worldwide, while highlighting efforts to increase awareness and prevention and reduce stigma.
