Our deaths decreased in Licking County for 2023 in part by the work of so many agencies and grassroots organizations getting harm reduction out to the people who need it. It is important to educate those who struggle as well as the family members. With all the resources that are available, or that could be made available, no one should be dying. This is a community issue and should be treated as such. This is a health crisis. It is hard to argue there is not a need to organize our communities to fight for better outcomes and results in how we are handling this crisis.
Community groups, county and state agencies and legislators from across Ohio are working hard to bring this crisis under control through efforts to expand access to naloxone, to improve access to addiction treatment and to raise awareness. No one is immune to the disease of addiction. We must continue to speak out against the stigma and the policies that have led to this epidemic.
Participation in our Overdose Awareness Day Rally is free. Anyone wishing to be involved is welcome. To get involved with our rally or to join us on August 29th, please contact Trish Perry 740-405-5682, @ t-pf@hotmail.com or Stephanie Vanbibber @ stephaniedunlap285@gmail.com.
