Our event aims to prevent, remember, support, and honor those whose lives have been affected by overdose. The event hosts several resources, from health, education, prevention, treatment, law enforcement, grief support, family support, and recovery groups. There is a formal program with local leaders, family members, and those in recovery sharing their experiences with either changing the narrative of addiction, and linkages to service and change, stories in memoriam, or personal experiences of triumph and living with addiction. There is a memorial area where loved ones can bring pictures, shoes, mementos, letters, or other memories to remember loved ones who have passed away. There are some family activities for children. The evening ends with a candlelight vigil where people can share about their loss and be comforted. The event is a powerful mix of solemnity, remembering, and hope.
