For the upcoming International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31, the Center for Urban Youth and Family Development (CUYFD) will launch a targeted social media campaign to combat opioid misuse and honor those lost to overdose in the Northwest Detroit community. This initiative will utilize high-impact digital storytelling on Facebook and Instagram, focusing on the “Helpful Services” theme to provide families with immediate access to evidence-based prevention resources and local support networks. The campaign will emphasize the critical importance of medication safety and the dangers of prescription drug sharing. By centering the voices of high-risk youth and their families, this digital outreach will work to eliminate the stigma surrounding opioid use disorder, ultimately transforming a day of mourning into a powerful catalyst for community-wide resilience and life-saving education.
