Digital Awareness Campaign on Overdose Prevention and Naloxone
As part of International Overdose Awareness Day, AHSUD – Association Hasnouna for the Support of People Who Use Drugs – is organizing a creative digital awareness campaign focused on overdose prevention and the importance of access to naloxone.
The campaign uses a playful and familiar underwater cartoon universe, featuring original adaptations of well-known sea-creature characters, to address serious issues related to overdose in an accessible and engaging way. Through short videos and visual content shared on social media, the characters will speak about the realities faced by people who use drugs, the risks associated with overdose, the consequences of limited access to naloxone, and the importance of timely intervention.
By combining humor, creativity and harm reduction messages, the campaign aims to make overdose prevention easier to understand and encourage conversations around naloxone as a life-saving intervention. It also seeks to challenge stigma and remind audiences that people who use drugs are entitled to health, dignity, support and access to appropriate care.
The campaign will be disseminated primarily through social media platforms, allowing the messages to reach a wider audience and encourage public engagement around overdose awareness and harm reduction.
Key messages: overdose prevention, naloxone access, harm reduction, timely response, dignity, and the right to health.
