Overdose Awareness Day
The largest event of the month will be held in Junction Park from 2 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 31.
Speakers from across the Sea to Sky and Lower Mainland will “address the effects of the toxic drug crisis on communities and families and offer paths forward through individual grief and collective solutions.”
Attendees can also visit the tables of a variety of organizations that work in local harm reduction.
“International Overdose Awareness Day is a globally recognized day of gathering, mourning, action and tackling stigma,” said Squamish Helping Hands executive director, Lori Pyne, in the release. “It’s a day to mourn those we’ve lost and demonstrate the power of community in addressing the toxic drug crisis.”

Alongside these four events is a display at Squamish Public Library highlighting curated literature on the crisis, and a window display at Pearl’s Value & Vintage.
