There will be a memorial event from 1:00-2:00pm outside the OPS. Squamish Nation will be there to offer a welcome and opening prayer, there will be a memorial space to write a note or lay a flower for those lost, and the peer advocacy group will be there to talk with people and offer naloxone training.
There will also be a BBQ lunch from 12-1.

Separately from the afternoon event, there will be a film showing in the library community room at 4:45pm of ‘Love in the Time of Fentanyl”, which you can RSVP to me about if you want to come.

“As deaths in Vancouver, Canada reach an all-time high, the Overdose Prevention Society opens its doors – a renegade supervised drug consumption site that employs active and former drug users. It’s staff and volunteers do whatever it takes to save lives and give hope to a marginalized community in this intimate documentary that looks beyond the stigma or people who use fentanyl and other drugs.”

Overdose affects everyone. From grieving families to spontaneous first responders, the impacts of overdose are far-reaching and fall indiscriminately.
