On Saturday, August 29, from 8:00 PM to 9:30 PM, we’ll be at Fountain Park in Rock Hill hosting a luminary bag vigil to honor the lives lost to overdose in York County during 2025.
This past year, we lost 76 to overdose, which is down from 83 in 2024. To recognize each life, we will light 76 luminary bags around the park. Community members will also have the opportunity to decorate a luminary bag in memory of a loved one or in support of those affected by substance use.
In addition to the vigil, we will be:
– Giving away IOAD-themed items
– Distributing resource bags
– Providing free Narcan
– Sharing overdose prevention information
– Hearing a few remarks from a representative of the Coroner’s Office
This event is always a meaningful evening of remembrance, hope, and community connection.
