On August 31st 2024, the Cyprus National Addictions Authority (NAAC), in collaboration with the Municipality of Nicosia, will symbolically light up Freedom Square in purple colour, as part of International Overdose Awareness Day, as a small tribute to our fellow human beings who have lost their lives from drug overdose and in recognition of the pain experienced by their families and friends.
Moreover, in the evening, between 18:30-21:30, officers of the mobile harm reduction unit “CareZone” and the NAAC will be present in Freedom Square to provide information to the public about the topic of drug overdose, how to avoid it, and the harm reduction programmes available (licenced by NAAC) in Cyprus.
