Nanaimo – noon to 6 pm, August 31, Maffeo Sutton Park, 100 Comox Road. Hosted by the Nanaimo Community Action Team on the Overdose Crisis (a.k.a. the Nanaimo CAT). Highlights include welcome and prayer on behalf of Snuneymuxw First Nations, reading of the City of Nanaimo International Overdose Awareness Day Proclamation, speakers and story sharing, meet local service providers at pop-up resource tables, naloxone training and harm reduction education on behalf of AVI, art in the park with Rise Bridge and more! That evening from sunset (8pm) on an LED Light Vigil will be held at Wisteria Community Association’s Overdose Memorial Garden. Lights will
illuminate the garden and hearts at the corner of Wisteria Lane and Milton. As well, the Nanaimo Bastion will be lit up in purple and purple ribbons will be put up around the community in honor of loved ones lost, by Moms Stop the Harm.
