To contribute to this important international day of solidarity and action, ACON is hosting an event on Friday the 30th of August for LGBTQ+ community members who have experiences related to overdose and/or drug use, and their allies.
Main event:
- Community storytelling focused on the intersection of LGBTQ+ communities and experiences of overdose and/or AOD (alcohol and other drugs) lived and or living experience. We invited 6 writers to participate in workshops before the event and share their stories on this evening.
- A spiritual vigil style performance to help ground attendees into the space.
- A private chillout/care space with a wishing tree to honor those no longer with us. Peer support workers will also facilitate that space during the evening.
- Harm reduction education booths with relevant AOD information, take home Naloxone and AOD support services.
