The Dubois County Advocacy for Recovery and Prevention Council (ARC) invites community members to attend its ninth annual Overdose Awareness Candlelight Vigil on Thursday, August 27, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. EST at Market Street Park in Huntingburg.

The event is free and open to the public and serves as an opportunity for the community to come together in remembrance, support, and hope. Attendees will honor the lives lost to overdose, support grieving families and friends, and raise awareness about substance use, recovery, and overdose prevention.

The evening’s program will feature guest speakers, live instrumental music, an open microphone portion for attendees who wish to share memories or reflections, and the reading of names of those who have been lost to overdose. Community members will also have access to resource tables hosted by local organizations offering information and support related to prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction services.

As the sun sets, attendees will participate in a candlelight vigil and a butterfly release, symbolic acts of remembrance, healing, and hope.
