The permanent memorial named Pathways to Remembering was officially unveiled at York Road Park in Guelph on Thursday, August 27, 2026.Organized by the Wellington Guelph Drug Strategy, the Guelph Mercury reports that the community gathering took place from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. near the park’s covered bridge.

Location: York Road Park (85 York Rd, near the Speed River and covered bridge), Guelph.

Design & Materials: Built with locally sourced, reclaimed stone, featuring exterior granite fieldstones and a carved limestone center. Many limestone pieces originate from historic buildings around downtown Guelph’s St. George’s Square.

Purpose: Serves as a quiet, judgment-free space for reflection, grieving, and honoring individuals affected or lost due to the toxic and unregulated drug supply.

Community Action: Attendees participated by placing hand-painted stones around the monument carrying messages of hope and remembrance.
