International Overdose Awareness Day 2026 – Celebrate Life!

Join Genesee Health System and the City of Flint on Monday, August 31, 2026, as we come together to observe International Overdose Awareness Day under this year’s theme, “Celebrate Life!”

This meaningful community event will honor the lives of those we have lost to overdose while celebrating the hope, healing, and resilience found in recovery. The day will bring together individuals, families, community organizations, and advocates to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and inspire hope.

The event will feature:

A special remembrance ceremony honoring those we lost to overdose.
A keynote presentation by nationally recognized recovery speaker Tony Hoffman, who will share his powerful journey of addiction, recovery, and redemption.
A panel discussion featuring individuals with lived experience and community leaders.
Music and recovery speakers.
Food trucks.
Community resources, education, and recovery support organizations.
Family-friendly activities and opportunities to connect with local partners dedicated to prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction.

Together, we can remember those we have lost, support those who are struggling, celebrate those in recovery, and strengthen our community’s commitment to saving lives.
