On International Overdose Awareness Day, August 31st, 2021 we invite you to join us for a Ceremony of Hope and Remembrance at City Hall in memory of lives lost due to the toxic drug crisis.
Our ceremony will begin at 10:00 am and will include the lowering of flags in memory of those lost due to the toxic drug crisis, a moment of silence followed by words of remembrance and hope.
The Gilbert Centre will be on-site sharing information about Harm reduction and handing out Naloxone kits. Hospice Simcoe will be on hand to offer grief support.
As purple is the colour of IOAD people are invited to wear purple.
As August is International Overdose Awareness Month people are invited to tie purple ribbons around their trees in remembrance of lives lost.
In keeping with COVID health guidelines, we are limiting the size of the gathering to 100 people. Those attending are reminded to keep 6 feet apart from those not in their household and to wear masks when social distancing isn’t possible. Masks will be provided for those that need one.
