“Empty Place” is a community-led national campaign taking place across at least seven regions of Kazakhstan around International Overdose Awareness Day. The campaign draws attention to preventable overdose deaths, challenges stigma against people who use drugs, and advocates for access to naloxone as a life-saving medicine. Empty places symbolise people whose lives could have been saved through timely overdose response. Led by the Kazakhstan Forum of People Who Use Drugs with technical support from the Eurasian Harm Reduction Association, the campaign will bring together communities, healthcare and social workers, civil society, media and decision-makers. Activities will include personal stories, public and online awareness actions, educational materials and advocacy for sustainable access to naloxone in Kazakhstan.”
