Temiskaming Shores

Cam’s Walk for Overdose Awareness is a community walk being held in Temiskaming Shores, Ontario, in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day.

Created in memory of Cameron Metson-Stewart and in honour of all those impacted by substance use and overdose, this event aims to bring people together to remember loved ones, reduce stigma, promote awareness, and support healing within our community.

Participants will gather at the Haileybury Tennis Courts before walking together through Haileybury and North Cobalt, concluding at Cam’s Corner, a memorial space dedicated to Cameron. Following the walk, attendees are invited to take part in a Ribbon Remembrance Project, visit community resource booths, enjoy refreshments, and connect with others who have been affected by substance use, overdose, loss, or recovery.

This is a free, family-friendly event open to all ages. Participants are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item in support of local food banks.

Whether you are walking in memory of someone you have lost, in support of someone currently struggling, in celebration of recovery, or simply to help raise awareness, you are welcome.

Together, we walk to remember, to reduce stigma, and to remind one another that no one has to face this journey alone.
