International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD) is a time to honor the lives of those who have died from overdose, to recognize the grief of families and communities, and to support people affected by substance use and who are in recovery.

On Thursday, August 27, the Iredell community will come together to remember those lost to overdose and support the people left behind.

Community members are invited to share a meal at 6:30 p.m. at Christ Church (2172 Wilkesboro Road in Statesville,) followed by a candlelight vigil.

The Drug-Alcohol Coalition of Iredell, Christ Church, ICGH, PQA, and Foundation of Hope Ministries are hosting this remembrance and awareness event

Attendees can come as they are, invite friends and family, and bring a photo or memory of someone they love lost to overdose.
