Join Us for the Overdose Awareness Glow Vigil at Greenbrook Park
Every year, communities across the globe observe International Overdose Awareness Day—a time to remember those we’ve lost, extend compassion to grieving families, and take active steps toward ending overdose in our community.

This August, the DeKalb Prevention Coalition invites community members and local families to join us at Greenbrook Park for an evening of reflection, unity, and hope.

Overdose touches families across every walk of life. The Glow Vigil provides a safe, welcoming space for everyone in DeKalb County—whether you are honoring a family member, friend, or neighbor, or simply want to offer support to those who are healing.

You do not need to have personally lost someone to participate; your presence alone helps break the stigma surrounding addiction and demonstrates that no one in our community has to walk through grief alone.

Throughout the evening, attendees can take part in several meaningful memorial and interactive experiences:

Illuminated Memorial Walk: Walk down the park pathway lined with personalized LED memorial bags, creating a purple trail of light through the park.
Purple Glow Stick Ceremony: Every participant will receive a purple glow stick—the official color of Overdose Awareness
Community & Prevention Resources: Representatives will be on-site with local educational materials and prevention resources.
Together, we honor those we’ve lost, support those who are healing, and build a brighter, healthier future for DeKalb County.
