The Town of Smithtown Horizons Counseling and Education Center invites community members to participate in a special International Overdose Awareness Day event on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.161 East Main Street, Smithtown.
This free community event will begin with a Narcan Training from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m., providing participants with the signs to recognize and respond to an opioid overdose. Attendees will receive a complimentary Narcan kit and educational resource materials.
The Purple Rock Project was created by Carole Trottere, a local parent advocate who lost her son to heroin/fentanyl poisoning. Her organization is dedicated to helping families and individuals navigate grief and healing in the wake of loss due to opioid use.
