“Overdoses aren’t just caused by opioids”
A campaign focused on raising awareness of the risk of overdose associated with stimulants, on the early recognition of warning signs, and on promoting a rapid and appropriate response.
Although overdose is often associated with opioids, it is not limited to them. In Portugal, cocaine plays a particularly significant role in overdose deaths, and poly-drug use is present in the vast majority of cases. The campaign has two complementary strands:
a) social media, featuring content designed to raise awareness, promote literacy and dispel myths;
b) teams/groups, with more direct messages aimed at enabling immediate recognition and response.
