On National Overdose Awareness Day we will honor the 454 lives lost to overdose in Escambia County in 2022 by placing 454 purple pinwheels on the lawn. We will have additional pinwheels for attendees at the event to place on the lawn who have lost a loved one this year or a year prior to 2022. In addition, there will be live music, food, and arts/crafts for youth attending. We will also have Narcan available. We will have several short speeches including the sheriff’s office, a recovering addict, and a mother who has been impacted by her son’s death due to overdose.

Overdose affects everyone. From grieving families to spontaneous first responders, the impacts of overdose are far-reaching and fall indiscriminately.

Sign up to the International Overdose Awareness Day newsletter and become part of the global movement to end overdose.
