The event will take place in a public park. The idea is to raise awareness as to how many people are affected by the opioid epidemic by using floating lanterns to represent those that have passed. WE will also have colored lanterns to launch as a way to show how many people have survived an overdose. This Lantern launch will be coupled with resource booths, narcan distribution, and local agencies and vendors to share resources about National Overdose day and ways the can receive help if they or a loved one has been impacted by this drug epidemic.
The lantern launch is also a kick start to National Recovery Month (September) and we will host panel discussions, breakfast networking, and information loading, city wide, at various New Britain Recovers task force agencies. These events will be once a week all month long.
