Join the University of Miami community on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. for an International Overdose Awareness Day Vigil at the Lakeside Pavilion.
Hosted by the University of Miami Sandler Center for Alcohol and Other Drug Education, University of Miami Student Health Service, URecovery and Allies, and No More Dead Homies, this event honors those lost to overdose, supports families, and emphasizes that overdose is preventable.

This event is free and open to the community.
The program includes welcome remarks, proclamations from Miami Dade, South Miami, Coral Gables, and Palmetto Bay, and a panel discussion, “Overdose Is Preventable,” featuring Erin Bigler of Oxford House, Dr. Erika Victorino of Care Resource, and JC Ortiz of Punk Rock Saves Lives.
The evening will also feature a moment of silence, name readings, a candlelight reflection, and a memorial slideshow.
Together, we can remember, support, and prevent future overdoses.
