National Recovery Month is a national observance held every September to promote and support new behavioral health treatment and recovery practices, to celebrate a strong recovery community, and to acknowledge the dedication of service providers and community members across the nation who make recovery possible.

The 2nd annual St. Mary’s Goes Purple Walk for Recovery will be held Saturday, September 9, 2023 from 9:00 – 12:00 p.m., in Leonardtown Square. This family-friendly, free event is being hosted by the St. Mary’s County Health Department’s Behavioral Health Division and supported by community partners.

This walk will be held to celebrate those in recovery and the people who support them, to help end the stigma surrounding substance use and mental health disorders, to bring awareness to the disease of addiction and how it impacts our community.

We would like to invite you, our community partners, to share resources or participate in the walk.

Overdose affects everyone. From grieving families to spontaneous first responders, the impacts of overdose are far-reaching and fall indiscriminately.
