Come together for International Overdose Awareness Day Pop Up Rally 2022
Aug 31st from 6 – 8pm @ Bronson Park Kalamazoo.
The pop up rally will help to bring about awareness and reduce stigma for all who suffer from substance use disorder. Everyday too many lives are lost to the opioid crisis. This is not a moral failing but a medical illness. Addiction affects 1 in 3 families. Together as a community we can support recovery. Show your support for those we have lost, for those who survived, and for those who are still struggling. In 2021 there were over 107,000 people who died in the United States from an opioid related cause, over 3000 of those people were from Michigan.
We will gather Aug 31st at Bronson Park Kalamazoo, meeting on the west side of the bandshell Park Street location.
The evening will begin with poster making, you can come with posters already created. We will have supplies on hand for making posters. You can bring pictures of your loved ones and friends for posters. The event will offer free overdose prevention education and free naloxone aka Narcan, the antidote to an opioid overdose. Come for the rally or just to pick up free Narcan.
We will proceed out to Park Street to line the streets bringing awareness and support for all who are affected by substance use disorder and to remember those we have lost to opioid overdose through the years.
