Light the Way: A Day of Remembrance and Hope
International Overdose Awareness Day 2026

Join Cocoon House as we gather in remembrance, reflection, and hope for International Overdose Awareness Day 2026.

Light the Way is a community event dedicated to honoring the lives of those we have lost to overdose, supporting those who continue to grieve, and standing together to end stigma surrounding substance use and addiction.

The event will include:

A welcome and community gathering
Personal stories and remarks from community members, advocates, and individuals with lived experience
A memorial pathway illuminated by candles and balloons, symbolizing hope and the light that continues to guide us
A remembrance activity where participants write messages to loved ones on memorial balloons
A collective moment of reflection and remembrance as we release our messages to our loved ones and ancestors (or hold a shared memorial moment, depending on the activity selected)
Resources for grief support, recovery, harm reduction, and community connection

Together, we remember every life, honor every story, and reaffirm our commitment to creating a future where every person is met with compassion, dignity, and hope.
