oin us on August 31st at McIvers Public Library as we recognize and bring awareness to International Overdose Awareness Day, the world’s annual campaign to end overdose, remember without stigma those who have died, and acknowledge the grief of the family and friends left behind. This event will offer anyone who attends the opportunity to learn the dangers our community faces when it comes to overdoses and erase the stigma associated with whom this tragedy affects and how it is addressed. Joining us, Mayor John Holden will sign a proclamation, bringing this issue to the forefront by encouraging our community leaders and citizens to be vigilant in the fight to end overdoses and prevent any more families from losing loved ones to this tragedy. The misuse and abuse of prescription drugs, along with the associated morbidity and mortality, has been identified as one of the most serious and costly issues facing Tennesseans today. An Overdose Prevention Specialist with TN Save A Life will provide training, education and certification for the safe use and effective administration of the life saving overdose reversal drug, Naloxone (NARCAN). Participants will receive a Narcan Overdose Prevention Kit to have on-hand should it ever be needed.

The overdose epidemic is everyone's problem, but it's being left to a small group to step up.

Do your part and support these unrecognised responders by pushing for change today.
