Join us Wednesday, Aug. 31 as we come together to remember and celebrate loved ones we have lost to overdose.

Clatsop County Department of Public Health is hosting an Overdose Awareness Day event from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Barbey Maritime Center, 2042 Marine Drive, Astoria.

The FREE event will feature educational presentations. including supplies of and training on Narcan, the life-saving medication that reverses opioid overdose, as well as a candlelight vigil and the opportunity for attendees to offer their own stories and experiences. There will be rock painting and a collaborative community art project, community resources, t-shirts, and other giveaways. Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be available, and there will be live music. A keynote speaker will share her experience and individuals will be invited to offer their own stories in the second half of the event.

You are not alone with your loss. There will be an interactive memorial space where people are encouraged to share a photo to remember anyone they’ve lost to overdose and share their story. Go to the online submission form below to share a picture:
