Clatsop County Department of Public Health is hosting an Overdose Awareness Day event from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Barbey Maritime Center, 2042 Marine Drive, Astoria.
The event will feature educational presentations, including supplies of and training on Narcan, the life-saving medication that reverses opioid overdose, art projects, community resources, as well as a candlelight vigil and the opportunity for attendees to offer their own stories and experiences. Food and beverages will be available, and there will be live music.
There will be an interactive memorial space where people are encourages to share a photo to remember anyone they’ve lost to overdose and share their story.

The overdose epidemic is everyone's problem, but it's being left to a small group to step up.
